PLP has over 70 years of experience as a world leader in the electrical distribution, telecommunications and solar energy industries through continuous innovation, customer service and high quality products.
In 1947, after the war, the United States experienced tremendous growth, especially in the installation of new power lines due to the pent-up demand for goods and services. During this time, an engineer named Tom Peterson came up with PREFORMED™ Armor Rods that revolutionised the power industry by providing a secure fit for conductors without the need for clamps. This development led to the creation of PREFORMED™ Line Products, PLP.
Initial success led to expansion of the company, with the opening of facilities in Cleveland and Palo Alto, as well as licensing agreements in Canada. PLP was committed to maintaining high standards of quality and customer service.
Over time, PLP diversified its product offerings to include products for the telecommunications industry and expanded its operations internationally.
PLP continued its global expansion, establishing locations in France and Russia, and acquiring companies in Canada and New Zealand. Their commitment to innovation and quality has kept them as leaders in their field, ready to face future challenges with confidence.
In 1960, PLP SPAIN began its operations with a focus on the design, manufacture and marketing of preformed helical fittings for overhead and telephone networks, as well as railway catenaries. In just a few years, the company consolidated its position as a prestigious reference point both in the Spanish and international markets.
In 1989, PLP SPAIN began to develop fittings, clamps and accessories for overhead power lines. By incorporating these products, the company not only provides its customers with integral sets of insulators, but also complementary accessories for the line, such as shock absorbers, separators, beacon spheres and devices to prevent collisions with birds, among others.
Since 1998, PLP SPAIN has diversified its presence in the telecommunications sector by introducing innovative products, including splice boxes and terminals for fibre optic and copper networks. These products, developed by our parent company in the USA, have driven PLP's expansion in this sector. As part of this strategy, an R&D department was established and the company functions as a logistics platform for Europe within the PLP Group.
In 2013, the company started the design and manufacture of connectors for medium and high voltage electrical substations, thus expanding its product portfolio and strengthening its presence in the field of electrical energy.
